Discovering the SYMMETRY

You have been given one Halloween character to complete the missing part. You can not trace it, nor measure more than 4 or 5 points in order to get the mirror image.

Halloween's Vocabulary

Pumpkins with lots of art

They create pumpkins (Jack'o lanterns) like these ones:

Freetime gallery

What do you do in your free time?
Have a look at what Magnus Muhr (a Swedish photographer) does.

Anyway, if you paint, draw, edit photographs or whatever creative activity you make, let me have it and I will publish it in our new page FREETIME GALLERY. You will find it at the top of this blog.
Now it is possible to find your classmates´ first drawings. Enjoy!

Imaginary people and animals

Let's see how creative you are.
First of all you have to find out the meaning of these words and add them to your vocabulary list:
  • abominable snowman
  • android
  • dragon
  • Martian
  • mermaid
  • nessie
  • ogre
  • phoenix
  • robot
  • snowman
  • sphinx
  • ghost
  • unicorn
  • vampire
  • werewolf
Afterwards, you will have to choose two of them and create a story to be painted in a sheet of paper (A4). You can choose the techniques you feel are most appropriate for the task (free style techniques).

Last but not least, you will have to explain your drawing on the back page (of course, in English).

Creative titles using ICT

Look, you will be able to build your name using letters from Flickr. Look at my name:
 letter O letra S letra A

If you want to build yours, this is the link: http://metaatem.net/words/. You only have to write the name in the white box, click on "spell" and you will get your letters. If you want to change the type, just click on each letter and a new one will apperar.  Click right mouse button on each letter to save it as a jpg image. You can use them in your school homeworks, posters, in headlines, titles, headings... or just to write a letter or a greeting card to a friend. This is more original than using Word or PowerPoint WordArt. Isn´t it?.

Try another one. Using the software Web2.oWrite, we transform a text into icons. I have used it and this is what I got:
Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación, con Web 2.0 Write

The following one is in French, but I'm sure you will do with it: Coloriage Prenom.

Creative typography

Type the sky
Type the sky is an original project by Lisa Rienermann, a student of Duisburg-Essen University. Each letter is an empty space in the sky of Barcelona surrounded by buildings.

Eatphabet
Eating from A to Z! By Luiza P. (Flicker user). She says: “This project was conceived as a way to document my eating habits and routine, through the creation of an alphabet. “

Initial medley. Your names.

This is a task I like doing when we begin a new course. It let me meet you, know your names and, by the way, we work with a "popurrí" of items which we are going to work with along the next nine months.

I realize you don't understand very well what your are doing now. Don't worry. We will hang them in our cork and we will have good references for the different topics we are going to deal with such as technical drawing (parallelism, perpendicularity, tales), image, colours, textures, visual elements, design process, sketches...

You will see your drawings published in this blog very soon....  Here they are.

Our language assistants

As we are part of the Bilingual Programme, we will have two English language assistants for this academic year 2010/11. They are Andrew and George. They will be helping and supporting you and me in our Art classes.

So... Andrew, George, I want to welcome you to our highschool. I am sure we will enjoy this precious time together.

But it will be better you introduce yourselves...

ANDREW
Here is some information about myself and some videos / images.
I was born in St. Louis on August 24, 1986. I studied political science, psychology, and Spanish at the University of Missouri.
This is a link to several photos of my university.
Here are some videos:

These are intro video for our football and basketball games.

GEORGE
My name is George Williams. I was born in New York City in 1988, but grew up in a small town about an hour southwest in New Jersey called Mendham. I come from a family of six with three sisters. My oldest sister, Emily, is an artist, the middle one, Meryl, is an actress, and my youngest, Rebecca, is studying at college. My parents, Mark and Karen, are both social workers. In May, I graduated from Syracuse University in upstate New York, where I studied Magazine Journalism and International Relations. I love to travel and have done so extensively in Latin America, including five months in Chile, two months in Mexico, one month in Ecuador, and two weeks in Brazil. While in Madrid, I hope to travel around Spain as well. I recently spent a weekend in San Sebastian in the north.

I am in Madrid for one year teaching English as a second language. I am excited because I have only taught English to adults previously, never before in a school setting. My other hobbies include reading, writing, and playing sports. I especially enjoy baseball, basketball, and golf. In general, I am a laid-back person who enjoys meeting new people and learning new things.

Illustrated vocabulary

Let's play a game.
It is a multiple choice game with pictures which helps you to increase your elementary vocabulary. You have to click on Illustrated vocabulary from skynet. I suggest ARCHITECTURE, OFFICE, COLOURS, SCHOOL, and SHAPES. After your selection you will get your score. I hope you get 100%.
