Part 2

• Picasso Memory. Based on Picasso's masterpieces at "Museo Picasso de Barcelona".
• Picasso puzzle. "Las Meninas de Picasso". Jigsaw puzzle.
• Picassohead. Be a digital Picasso. After getting to know the tool, you will have to draw a portrait similar to that one you have handmade previously following the video instructions. You Placan do it in black line or in colours, it's your choice. When finished, sign it and save it on to the gallery using a name beginning with NEWTON, your course and group and your name and the first letter of your surname. For example: NEWTON1CRosaF. That will be the way I will find your tasks. Of course, you can also use my email.

TASKS

A.- Lines create forms:

Use an A4 sheet of paper and draw a shape with a pencil.You will have to work as the following example with a felt pen. When finished, erase the pencil. Do not use a ruler!.

B.- Lines create shapes:

 

Take a sheet of paper and create drawings using a continuous line (outline), similar to those you have seen in the video.

• The ARTIST's Toolkit: LINE. Work in Line and Edge and Outline. 

• Line design. Learn about lines and afterwards, draw lines with feelings. Draw these kind of lines:

• Create your own drawing only with ONE LINE with this online tool: trazotool.
• Another tool to use: Dibujator.
• ArtPad. You will use a special mouse depending on the line size. And replay!
• Brushster: Have a look to this presentation. Now, you can create your own non-representational (abstract) piece of art with Brushster.

Underwater mystery: Sculptris

Sculptris is a free sculpting and 3D design software you have to download from Pixologic and install in your PC.

Here I will introduce you into Sculptris a free 3d modeling program. In this video we will go over the basics of the program to help you understand the basics and the power of this program. From there we will go on to sculpting small projects and models and then delve into larger and more advanced models. I hope to guide you as you learn the 3D.

Sculptris is the smallest brother of Zbrush. In video 1 you will see both used to create a dragon. And you can create very different things (video 2):

1. You will have to create a sea creature (pufferfish or not) using Scuptris.
2. Save your design as "name.SC1", which is the native file of Sculptris.
3. Get a screenshot of your model (a .JPG file).
4. Export your model in .OBJ format.
5. Upload SC1, JPG and OBJ files onto the colaborative padlet of the task.

Self-portraits

A self-portrait is a representation of an artist, drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by the artist.

Self-portraits have been made by artists since the earliest times.

In the later 20th century and more so in the 21st century, new techniques and video are playing a part in furthering self-portraiture (artworks, crafts, videoblogs, digital self-portraits, selfie, etc.).

There are many different ways to make a self-portrait. It has not to be a traditional drawing or painting of your face.

1st ESO C, self-portraits example

"For a university project I was asked to produce 50 different paintings in completely different styles. I thought it would be a challenge to 50 self portraits. I had the whole summer to complete the project, but only left myself a week to do it.

I started off my researching my favourite artists hoping to generate a list of 50 styles. I decided on 25 to begin with and began painting then. I did a painting every 1-2 hours depending on the complexity of the style I was replicating. Styles varied from traditional painters such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Rembrandt to modern artists such as Chuck Close, Jenny Saville and many others. I produced a few cartoon versions of myself such as a Simpsons character, Beano character and in a Manga style."

Ideas to get you started: clothes, music, words, sports, food, people you admire, singers, actors...
Trace your head on two white papers (using the window). Then filled in the head shape with magazine images in one of the papers. The second one will be the template of the final frame of your self-portrait, so, you will have to cut out the inside part. Let's do it.

Another way of making a portrait is using typography instead of a collage or paint. Take a look at 45 amazing Type Faces- Typographic Portraits. Really amazing! Le's make something similar with your pictures just writing your name (or your sign).

Creating symmetries

You have been given one Halloween character to complete the missing part. You can not trace or fold it, nor measure more than 15 or 20 points (by using the drafting compass or a ruler) in order to get the mirror image by symmetry.

The first task: Typography

This is a task I like doing when we begin a new course. It let me get to know you, learn your names and, by the way, we work with a "popurrí" of items which we are going to work with along the next nine months.

I realize you don't understand very well what your are doing now. Don't worry, you will. We will hang them in our cork and we will have good references for the different topics we are going to deal with, such as technical drawing (parallelism, perpendicularity, Thales), image, typography, visual elements (dots, lines, colours, textures), design process, sketching ...

You will see your drawings published in this blog very soon....
