January 30th - School Day of Peace and Non-Violence

Mahatma Gandhi
January 30th - School Day of Peace and Non-Violence
The School Day of Peace and Non-Violence was first celebrated in 1964. It emerged from Spanish professor Llorenc Vidal’s non-governmental, independent and volunteer pioneer initiative, Non-Violent and Peaceful Education. Its objective is to educate for and about tolerance, solidarity, agreement and respect for Human Rights, non-violence and peace. On this day, primary and secondary schools turn into instruments of peace and understanding among people of distinct occupations, races, cultures and religions.
The basic message of this day is: “Universal Love, Non-Violence and Peace.”
Furthermore, January 30th commemorates the death of the national and spiritual leader of India, Mahatma Gandhi, who was shot and killed by a fanatical Hindu on January 30th, 1948.

  • Do you want to try? You can use Wordle. Just a few words and you can get your own "word-poster".
  • Tagxedo. A lot of options but... it´s very easy. You can upload your own picture and get something like ... Do you recognize him?

Halloween is coming... and we discover the symmetry

You have been given one Halloween character to complete the missing part. You can not trace it, nor measure more than 4 or 5 points in order to get the mirror image.

Creative typography using ICT

Activities for the computer room
  • Look, you will be able to build your name using letters from Flickr. Look at my name:
 letter O letra S letra A

If you want to build yours, this is the link: http://metaatem.net/words/. You only have to write the name in the white box, click on "spell" and you will get your letters. If you want to change the type, just click on each letter and a new one will apperar.  Click right mouse button on each letter to save it as a jpg image. You can use them in your school homeworks, posters, in headlines, titles, headings... or just to write a letter or a greeting card to a friend. This is more original than using Word or PowerPoint WordArt. Isn´t it?.

  • Try another one. Using the software Web2.oWrite, we transform a text into icons. I have used it and this is what I got:
Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación, con Web 2.0 Write

  • The following one is in French, but I'm sure you will do with it: Coloriage Prenom.

Letters can be used to create whatever you like. Have a look:

TYPOGRAPHY

Type the sky
Type the sky is an original project by Lisa Rienermann, a student of Duisburg-Essen University. Each letter is an empty space in the sky of Barcelona surrounded by buildings.

Eatphabet
Eating from A to Z! By Luiza P. (Flicker user). She says: “This project was conceived as a way to document my eating habits and routine, through the creation of an alphabet. “

Who are we?

I would like you to introduce yourselves.
Just pick on "comentarios", under this post, and write your name followed by the initial of your surname and your course. You can tell me which your hobbies are or whatever you want.

Example:
Nadia C. 1ºA. Hello teacher. My hobbies are basketball and dancing.

This is a task I like doing when we begin a new course. It let me meet you, know your names and, by the way, we work with a "popurrí" of items which we are going to work with along the next nine months.

I realize you don't understand very well what your are doing now. Don't worry. We will hang them in our cork and we will have good references for the different topics we are going to deal with such as technical drawing (parallelism, perpendicularity, Tales), image, colours, textures, visual elements, design process, sketches...

You will see your drawings published in this blog very soon....
